Tips & tricks to improve your house cleaning

It would be fantastic if we could simply snap our fingers and have our homes magically cleaned in a couple seconds. Unfortunately, we do not live in that world. We have to clean our homes regularly – sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, and much, much more.

It isn’t uncommon for people to set aside their entire weekends and days of to catch up on all the cleaning neglected during the week. Even then, your home will never be as clean as it could be if you had regular cleaning throughout the week. You can significantly cut down the time you spend scrubbing on weekends if you integrate some simple cleaning tips into your cleaning routine.

Want to simplify your cleaning process? Remember these cleaning tips:

#1: Schedule your cleaning

A little planning goes a long way. If you get all your cleaning done on the weekends, plan it out ahead of time. Write down what exactly you’re going to do, and get all the cleaning equipment together so you can start in the morning without delay. If you want to get a few things done during the week, think about what you’re going to do each day so you don’t get preoccupied when you arrive home.

#2: Always sweep and vacuum

One of the biggest things that make a difference in the cleanliness of your home is the state of your floors. If your hardwood floors and tiles are swept and mopped, they will be dust-free and not sticky. If your carpets are vacuumed, you’ll have less dust and dirt gathered in the room. This is something that you’ll definitely notice, so always sweep and vacuum to ensure your floors are clean.

#3: Go room by room

As professional home cleaners, based in Brisbane, we feel it is best to go room by room. Instead of cleaning or dusting the entire house then mopping all the way through, they get a room done thoroughly then move on to the next one.

Take, for instance, cleaning your bathroom. Wash the sink and fixtures, wipe the mirror and the counters, clean the toilet, then move to the walls and floor. Ps. Don’t forget to empty the wastebasket! 🙂

This allows you to have a sense of accomplishment knowing that a full room is completely clean. You’ll also be moving a lot more quickly.

“It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently.”

― Anthony Robbins

#4: Don’t neglect your countertops

Your kitchen countertops come in contact with a lot of things. Be it spilt coffee, residue from last night’s Taco Tuesday, or just the keys you threw on top, this will definitely have to be cleaned. Some things, like coffee or oil, stain the countertop and make it very hard to clean if you don’t wipe it right away.

#5: Empty your waste baskets

You can spare a couple of minutes to empty your wastebaskets as they get full. Nobody likes overflowing trash bins, and it only makes it more difficult to take out. Make a point of regularly emptying the wastebaskets throughout the house, particularly that of the bathroom and the kitchen.

If there is an odour still lingering in the room, cut a couple slices of lemon and set it out in the room. If you don’t have a lemon, some baking soda in the trash bin will absorb the smell as well.

#6: Use vinegar on glass

One of the best ways to clean your mirrors, windows, and glass doors is to use vinegar. Simply sprinkle a couple drops or even spray a bit with a spray bottle on the surface and wipe it down with a microfiber cloth or even newspaper.

#7: Eliminate grease

Grease is a terrible cleaning foe. It’s hard enough to manage on a countertop or on the backsplash – how much harder on carpets, furniture, or rugs?

Instead of heading to the store for some expensive cleaner, try this homemade concoction: one part alcohol to one part salt. Scrub the stain with the mixture, let it dry, and vacuum it off.

#8: Consider hiring professional house cleaners in Brisbane

Even with tips, cleaning can be a dreary and time-consuming task. It’s still essential to clean, though. So if you’re struggling to get your cleaning done every week and wondering why you don’t have more downtime to spend with your loved ones, consider hiring professional house cleaners in Brisbane.
